Active Enhancement of Rat Renal Allografts with Soluble Splenic Antigen
Kim, Jin-pok
Lukl, Peter/Wilson, Richard E.
Abstract
Renal transplantation was performed between inbred rats after pretreatment with intravenous soluble splenic antigen from the do-or strain.
A variety of dosage and timing of therapy was utilized. The most effective pretreatment was 0.5rrg of antigen administered one day prior to transplantation. A similar pretreatment dosage given over 14 days was also effective.
Cyclophosphamide did not increase the effectiveness of antigen pretreatment. Graft vs host response was increased in those groups of rats that demonstrated increased renal allograft survival, when performed at *he tine of transplantatio:?s. Spleen cells obtained from long surviving rats lost this increased reactivity and donor strain skin grafts placed in these long surviv_nll rats were rejected as lct set grafts.
